Star Wars On Blu Ray: A Visual Feast For the Senses
For all those Sci-Fi fans out there, the time has finally arrived. If you remember in 1997, George Lucas released the special edited “enhanced” version of all the original Star Wars films. At the time, this was an amazing display of high resolution digital film, clean and crisp on the big screen. Now this kind of quality is available at home, as the Star Wars Trilogy blu ray has been released by Lucas Films to buy and watch at home. This version will give you unbelievable special effects, high quality crisp sound and of course, the new controversial revised footage. Seeing this level of quality is truly fantastic. The Complete Saga was just released in September 2011 and this Blu Ray set has certainly been a long time coming!
The original three films in the Trilogy; “Star Wars: A New Hope”, “Return of the Jedi,” and “The Empire Strikes Back” have all been previously released in the “special edition” series. The reason for the first re-release was that George Lucas had stated that he made the changes to the films that the available technology in the 70’s and 80’s couldn’t achieve. There are also a few added scenes and some small changes to original scenes. A less popular change was the confrontation between Greedo and Han Solo in the Mos Eisly Spaceport Cantina. In the original 1977 version, Solo, the intrepid smuggler took down Greedo at the table in the cantina. In the 1997 version, he acts in self-defense when he kills the debt collector. Most fans agree that Hans Solo was more likely to shoot first than wait to try and defend himself against an adversary. One of the more enjoyable added scenes is a shot of the Millennium Falcon while blasting off in a hasty escape out of a hangar at the space port while being pursued by stormtroopers. This was a better thought out and exciting addition to the film.
If you already have the DVD box set you may be wondering what the point is of buying this
Star Wars trilogy blu ray box set
version. The blu ray disc ensures that the quality of the sound, images and resolution are much superior to normal DVD. This is in part due to the amount of digital storage capacity on the discs. On a blu ray, 50 MB of data can be stored whereas on a DVD only 8MB can be stored. This extra storage space means more value for the consumer such as special features, documentaries, outtakes, and other additional extras. The drawbacks are player compatibility and price. Blu ray players have come down in price considerably which means that they are more affordable for most movie enthusiasts out there.
In conclusion, it is well worth picking up the
Star Wars blu ray set
if you really are a die-hard fan. The visual effects and sound quality really are far beyond what you have experienced on DVD. For those individuals lucky enough to have an awesome surround sound system and big screen TV at home, this can be akin to having a movie theater in their own living room. This really does make a difference to your viewing experience, and the investment in a Blu Ray player will certainly never be regretted. Watching Star Wars like this is a really fantastic experience that you will enjoy over and over again for years to come.

Star Wars AT-AT Walker Toy That’s As Big As the Family Dog by Cameron Davis
Many great toys have been created based on the popular Star Wars Trilogy and the Imperial AT AT All Terrain Armored Transport Vehicle has to be the most impressive. Let’s take a good look at the AT-AT and see what makes it such a great toy to play with.
A Really Big AT-AT Walker
A Really Big AT-AT Walker
Want to command the largest walker ever made? Don’t we all! For those of us that didn’t grow up cheering and jeering for Luke Skywalker and The Force, the AT AT is an All Terrain Armored Transport Vehicle and Hasbro brings this Star Wars icon to life.
This two foot tall AT-AT Walker is not only what is going to let you take on the Rebel forces, but is going to have you marveling at the detail in every element of your toy!
Bring a Crew Along in Your AT Walker
Capable of thoroughly crushing any enemies of the empire, the quadruple AT-AT stands twenty-two meters tall! Crewed by a pilot, a gunner, deck officers, commander and is able to house more than forty troopers!
As many five Speed Bikes and two AT vehicles can be stored and deployed at anytime! While you may not be able to put that in your living room, the scaled down version is a little easier to accommodate.
Standing two feet tall and extending two feet long, the Star Wars Imperial AT AT by Hasbro houses a much smaller crew of about twenty. The cabin opens to interact with 3″ Star Wars action figures (of which one is included.)
Add the element of surprise to your attack with the AT and it’s scaled down launching Speed Bike.
A toy with detail you can play with!! While older, smaller models of the walker contained a lot of detail, it was prone to have some of these pieces break away from it.
This has been remedied with pieces that now ‘break away’ from the ship. Being able to remove pieces makes storage and mobility simple.
The AT-AT Walker is Better Suited for Kids over Three
While the Star Wars Imperial AT AT looks like great fun for all ages, due to small choking parts, sign ups for the Imperial Force start at ages three and up. The new walker is large…very large.
While it’s fun to play with, it can be a problem if the toy is thrown off balance. The Imperial At-AT is top heavy and can topple over if not played with carefully. (The AT AT is SOLID. It still takes some push to send it crashing down.)
The feet on the AT-AT are large enough to have a counterweight added in them to keep this from happening, however this was overlooked. (Small weights can easily be added by the player) Even with this slight oversight, the AT AT is still a fantastic toy with high playability.
